Due to the complicated nature of this site and the general condition of the cottage on site, redevelopment was not feasible. Therefore, a decision was made to demolish the existing structure and construct a new dwelling, orientated to maximise natural light and solar gain.
Despite the narrow layout of the site and the need to insert the new house between neighbouring dwellings, the design allows for both adequate privacy the harnessing of substantial amounts of sunlight from the South-West. Native hedging has been maintained along the site boundaries and the kitchen window frames this ever-changing view of nature.
