This project involved the refurbishment of an existing rural cottage, in order to realise its potential as a small-scale / compact dwelling house. The requirements of a modern dwelling house were considered along with the sensitive nature of working with an older building. This was achieved by specifically tailored design - combining our clients’ needs with a view to maintaining the character of the original dwelling, nestled into the landscape with its outbuildings.
Works to this cottage included structural and technical enhancements to the existing building. This involved raising the existing roof and the installation of a new wastewater treatment system, etc.
Taking advantage of the surrounding views, a contemporary single storey extension was constructed bringing harmony between both the indoor and outdoor spaces.
